EXACTER® Outage-Avoidance System
Press FAQ and Fact Sheet |
What is EXACTER?
EXACTER is a power outage-avoidance system used by electrical utilities to identify power line equipment problems before an outage occurs.
Why is EXACTER a relevant,
newsworthy product?
Power outages and power grid reliability are the top mandate in the electrical utility industry.
6,000,000 outages occur in the U.S. each year.
Outages have a $79 billion impact on the U.S. economy and a $750 million direct impact on electric utilities.
Experts agree that outages will only increase in the years ahead due to the aging of our electrical distribution system.

Locate Trouble Before the Outage
(AMP-OHIO UPDATE November 19, 2007) – Have you ever wished you could predict the future and have the ability to prevent outages on your electric system before they occur? AMP-Ohio's new Exacter® program may be able to help you do just that. (more)
Safety Subcommittee Meets
(AMP-OHIO UPDATE September 10 2007) – Twenty-three representatives of 14 member communities attended last week's safety subcommittee, which featured a presentation by Exacter Inc. and the Westerville Electric Division, detailing how the municipal electric system uses the predictive failure-detection technologies. (more)
Equipment Helps Forecast Potential Issues
(Public Power News June 2007) – Forty years ago, many of the products we use today were nothing but a pipe dream … Technological improvements have occurred to the point that machines are now made that help service providers see the future. (more)
Outage-Avoidance System
(T&DWorld Jun 1, 2007 12:00 PM) – The new EXACTER Outage-Avoidance System helps utilities avoid power outages before they occur by identifying electrical failure signatures from power lines, transformers, regulators, insulators, cutouts, lightning arrestors and other line components. (more)
Utilities Have New Weapon in Fight to Prevent Power Outages
(Columbus, OH – February 13, 2007) – There are over six million power outages in the United States each year. Approximately one third (31%) are due to equipment failure, mostly on distribution lines. With early detection and preventive maintenance this segment, (2 million outages), could potentially be prevented. (more)
New System Locates Faulty Power Line Equipment Before Outages Occur
(Columbus, OH – December 15, 2006) – The new EXACTER™ Outage-Avoidance System is a patent-pending product that helps utilities avoid power outages before they occur. EXACTER identifies electrical failure signatures from power lines, transformers, regulators, insulators, cutouts, lightning arrestors, and other line components. (more)
New System Restores Automatic Meter Reading Communication by Locating Problems on Distribution Circuits
(Columbus, OH – March 26, 2007) – Power line distribution disturbances that interrupt Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) System communications are a common problem across the country. Until now, there has been no effective means for “cleaning” the distribution line communication system, or being able to effectively locate problem points that inhibit the transmission of data. (more)
New Technology Provides Intelligence-Based Preventive Maintenance™ for Reducing Power Outages
(Columbus, OH – March 26, 2007) – Undetected problems on power line distribution systems account for 31% of all power outages in the U.S. The patent-pending EXACTER™ Outage-Avoidance System now enables utility maintenance departments to identify the precise locations of significant “undetected” problems across their entire distribution network and schedule effective “pre-emptive” maintenance to avoid power outages.
